National Explorations-Pat Claim Mine Site
Location
The National Explorations-Pat Claim mine site is 10 kilometres east of Uranium City. It is located east of Mickey Lake and one kilometre west of Foot Bay on Donaldson Lake.
General Description
National Explorations acquired and began exploring the Pat Claim site in 1951. A prospecting shaft was created in 1952 followed by a 109-metre production shaft in 1954.
Ore shipments to the Eldorado Mill began in 1956 and continued sporadically through 1958. An estimated 22,680 tonnes of ore were shipped during this time.
The site is accessible from Uranium City by a 15-kilometre gravel road followed by a 1.5-kilometre foot trail.
A vertical shaft covered by a cracked concrete cap remains. The nearby inclined shaft is sealed with blasted rock. A raise near the shaft is covered by a lumber and steel platform with rock on top.
A large amount of waste rock is located at the mine site. Mining camp buildings, concrete foundations, steel debris, and other mining debris are also found at the site.
