Beaverlodge-Mickey Lake Mine Site

Location

The Beaverlodge-Mickey Lake mine site is approximately 10.5 kilometres northeast of Uranium City, near the south shore of Mickey Lake. The site currently has no road access, but it can be reached by boat or by snowmobile in the winter.

General Description

Drilling and testing began at the site between 1951 and 1952. In 1953, a 122-metre adit was created. Exploration halted soon after due to a change in management.

The property was high-graded between 1958 and 1959. Approximately 54 tonnes of marginal-grade ore was extracted and shipped to the Eldorado mill.

Prospectors investigated the site between 1987 and 1997, but no significant mineral findings were discovered.

The site’s lone adit, located 50 metres from the lake shoreline, is blocked by a makeshift wooden gate. A few mounds of waste rock, mining debris, and a collapsed metal building are also found on site.
