Amax Athabasca Site 3 Mine Site
Location:
The site is located approximately 35 m off the east side of Rix road approximately 25m south of its junction with the road leading to St. Michael Mine
General Description:
Located in 1950 by Amax Athabasca Uranium Mines, there was about 60 tons (60 960 kg) of mineralized rock broken in 1959.
In 1975, Early Bird Mines Ltd. optioned the property to Eldorado Nuclear Ltd. Exploration revealed nothing of interest and no further work has been conducted.
The site is quite small and consists of a couple of shallow trenches with some scattered debris.
Since there appears to have been very little activity at the site, there is very little sign of waste rock.
There are no buildings or foundations although a previous assessment in 1977 indicates three concrete pads. Debris consists of tin cans, barrels and steel casing.
