2008 Work Season
Remediation work began in late summer 2008 at three satellite sites — Uranium Ridges mine site, Lake Cinch/Cenex mine site and Nesbitt LaBine ABC site. Further cleanup work will be carried out at these sites in the future as they have not been fully remediated yet.
Uranium Ridges mine site - 2008 work
- Removal of domestic garbage to the municipal landfill.
- An adit and trench were opened and filled.
- Steel was stockpiled at the disposal site.
Lake Cinch/Cenex mine site - 2008 work
- A large steel water tank was dismantled.
- Potentially contaminated soil from a wire burn was removed from the site.
- Safety fencing was installed around four adits that were opening up.
Nesbitt LaBine ABC site - 2008 work
- A large adit was permanently closed by backfilling the adit.
Basic site safety work such as fixing signage and barricading buildings took place at Gunnar and Lorado in summer 2008. Inspections also took place at both sites.
